The Courier BuildingAdaptive Re-use
The Courier Building holds a lot of Syracuse history: It housed one of the city’s first newspapers and was the site of a speech by Daniel Webster in 1847. But the building changed hands numerous times over the years and was eventually foreclosed upon and left to deteriorate. Recognizing its potential to enhance the surrounding neighborhood, Washington St. Partners purchased the Courier Building in 1998 and converted it to restaurant space. It is now owned by and houses the popular and exclusive L’Adour Restaurant Français – one of Syracuse’s only French restaurants. Living space in the building accommodates visiting students and chefs.
